A college in Fond du Lac is offering a class about Netflix’s Making a Murderer series.
It follows the case of Steven Avery. He and his nephew, Bendan Dassey, were convicted of the murder of Teresa Halbach. The Marian University course has students look at details of the case and watch the first season of the show.
Teacher Alan Johnson’s goal is to make students think critically instead of emotionally. He says it’s not about if they think he’s guilty. He says it’s about showing them that facts and evidence should drive the outcome of a case.
The first semester of the online class titled “Did We Make A Murderer” is now winding down. The school is looking at possibly expanding it in the future.
