A police dog for the Green Bay department is in critical, but stable position after a suspect is accused of stabbing the K-9.
Chief Andrew Smith says Pyro had several cuts to the neck area. He says it’s going to be an hour-by-hour and day-by-day situation because of the severity of the dog’s wounds. He says there’s a potential for scar tissue to form in Pyro’s esophagus area, and that would make it tougher to eat.
Smith says there were complications this morning, and Pyro had to undergo another surgery for a stomach problem. The other was with a blood clot that caused Pyro to stop breathing for a short time.
Smith says there was a less than 50-50 chance this morning that the dog was going to survive.
