Prosecutors say the man accused of stabbing Green Bay police K-9 Pyro pulled the knife from his waistband.
Thirty-year-old Sai Vang is facing formal charges, including injuring a police animal.
Pyro is being treated at Fox Valley Animal Referral Center in Grand Chute.
Prosecutors say officers went to Vang’s house Sunday night because he was threatening to shoot his father. They say he came outside, and wouldn’t listen to officers. They say that’s when Pyro jumped on Vang, and the dog was stabbed several times in the neck area.
Vang was in Brown County court Wednesday afternoon, and a court commissioner set Vang’s bond at $10,000.
