The number of people in danger of having their power shut off by We Energies is consistent with the recent past.
Utilities can’t turn off power during the winter months, if people are behind on their bills.
Spokeswoman Alison Trouy says that moratorium ends Monday, and there are thousands of customers in their service area in jeopardy of losing power next week.
Trouy calls disconnection “a last resort,” and she’s urging people to call to set up a payment plan.
