Someone found a two-week-old puppy in a garbage bag in Howard.
The Wisconsin Humane Society in Green Bay is taking care of the dog.
Humane Society staffers say a woman was walking her dog in Howard Wednesday night, in the area of Memorial Drive and Lenwood Avenue, when her dog sniffed at a garbage bag on the roadside, and the bag moved.
Temperatures were in the low 30s, and snow was starting to fall at the time.
The humane society reports the puppy was “desperately hungry,” but otherwise he only had a scrape on his nose.
Lori Nachtwey of the Wisconsin Humane Society says the puppy’s prognosis is “heavily guarded.”
She says newborn puppies have incredibly fragile immune systems, even more so without a mom.
Shelter staffers are naming him Buddy.
The humane society says anyone with information on what happened should call Animal Control Officer Monica Hoff at 920-819-6709.
