The Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley isn’t the only building in downtown Appleton that’s impacted by ravines or bluffs.
The hotel’s owners are dealing with some settling issues. They’re blaming the pounding of pilings from the construction of the Fox Cities Exhibition Center.
Some Lawrence University buildings are along a bluff. Christopher Lee is a vice president at the school. He says they’ve worked with construction companies to make sure the building doesn’t slide down the hill.
Part of the Paper Valley was built on a former ravine. Other buildings have had structural problems partially because people dumped garbage to help fill them.
