A regional diaper drive to benefit families in the Oshkosh and Greater Green Bay areas will get underway on Mother’s Day.
Stephanie Bowers of Jake’s Diapers hopes to collect a half-million by Father’s Day. She says there are more than 5,000 babies in Winnebago and Brown counties that live with families that struggle to afford diapers. She points out that there aren’t any federal safety-net programs to help, like WIC or food stamps, that cover diapers.
Bowers says it can cost families between $70 and $80 a month to buy diapers. Bowers says a generous donor will also match any financial donations.
