There’s support for bringing back a bounty program for deer with chronic wasting disease.
A survey at Conservation Congress meetings earlier this month, and online, shows 66 percent think hunters should be paid for the deer.
Retired DNR biologist Mike Foy wants the state to pay between $750 and more than $1,200 per deer. The payouts were smaller, under a program that was in place from 2003 to 2005.
