A Waupaca area couple wants to help others who go through the tragedy of a stillbirth.
Troy and Angie Nielson lost their twin daughters in February of last year.
The couple is asking state lawmakers to pass a bill that could allow for a one time tax credit.
It’s something already offered by at least seven other states including Michigan and Minnesota.
Angie says the emotional part can’t be quantified but it was hard to accept they couldn’t list their daughters when filing their taxes.
Troy Nielson feels his life changed in so many ways the day the girls died.
Lawmakers are debating a bill that would allow parents a one-time income tax credit of $2,000.
Since the bill isn’t retroactive the Nielsens don’t stand to benefit…..but they do say it’s important to speak out on behalf of other families who will experience the same type of tragedy.
The state’s budget committee is holding a listening session at U-W Green Bay tomorrow and Angie says she’ll be there to share their story.
