A federal lawsuit claims the state’s voter ID rules for college students are unconstitutional.
Common Cause in Wisconsin filed the suit, along with a 20-year-old student at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
If voters use their student ID, the ID needs to have specific information on it. The students also have to prove they’re enrolled in school.
The lawsuit calls the requirements a pointless barrier that can confuse and deter new voters.
