A Republican leader wants it to be clear to doctors that they need to help babies, if they survive an abortion.
Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke of Vandenbroek doesn’t see why Governor Evers won’t support a Republican-authored bill. The proposal could send doctors to prison for the rest of their life, if they don’t give medical care to babies born alive after a failed abortion.
Evers says he’ll veto the bill because there are already protections, and criminal penalties, in state law.
Steineke was a guest on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning.
