Besides businesses nearly two dozen people are without homes after a downtown De Pere building collapsed during a fire.
Two professors and an alumna of St. Norbert College are among them.
The school’s president Brian Bruess says they understood the connection with the fire and were ready to help.
He says they were prepared to open up one of their gymnasiums with the support of the Red Cross and house all the people impacted.
But as it turns out the De Pere community surrounded everyone involved. He says they are helping four people.
Students are taking their own initiative to help those impacted.
A group set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money and they’ll be holding other fundraisers.
