With the spring planting season here, a local farmer hopes drivers will pay attention when they’re around farm equipment.
Kelly Oudenhoven of Larrand Dairy in Freedom says on rural roads, drivers can come up quickly behind farm equipment. She encourages people to be patient. She says it’s better to wait a couple of minutes, and be safe, than get in a crash and hurt someone.
The DOT reports there were 175 crashes involving farm equipment last year. Seven people were killed and 71 were hurt.
Oudenhoven is partnering with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation and the UW-Extension to raise awareness.
