The Highway 10-441 interchange with I-41 in Fox Crossing now bears the name of former state Sen. Mike Ellis.
Governor Evers signed a law this morning, designating the completed project as the Mike Ellis Memorial Interchange.
Evers called the longtime Neenah Republican his favorite lawmaker to visit with, and a great public servant. He says the complexity of the interchange reminds him of the budget blackboard Ellis would use to detail the school funding formula. Evers remembers meeting with Ellis many times over the years, when the governor was the state superintendent of schools or the deputy superintendent.
Evers signed the bill in the city council chambers at Neenah City Hall.
Ellis spent 44 years in the Legislature, and he started his political career on Neenah’s city council. He died last July, at 77.
