A Wisconsin Democrat is part of a group of lawmakers supporting a bill that aims to improve early detection of child abuse.
U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin says it provides training for people working closely with kids. She says some professionals that work with children may not know how to spot abuse early on.
The bill would give $10 million over three years for the program.
A young boy died recently in Two Rivers. Investigators say the child had been physically abused by his mother and her two roommates for months.
