The Brown County Sheriff’s Department is facing an issue with its supply of Narcan expiring.
The drug reverses the effects of an opioid overdose and deputies carry it in their squad cars. The drug only has a two-year shelf life and it’s expensive to replace.
Captain Dan Sandberg estimates it will cost about $2,500. He says it’s an expensive program to maintain, and they’ll have to look at how they budget for it.
Brown County Sheriff’s deputies have used Narcan about 20 times since 2017.
