A report from an independent firm shows expanding Medicaid in Wisconsin would lower premiums on the private health insurance market between seven and 11 percent.
Wakely Consulting Group shows 25,000 to 30,000 people who currently buy insurance would shift to Medicaid. In all, about 82,000 people would be covered through Medicaid.
Governor Evers wants to accept the federal funding. Majority Republicans on the Legislature’s budget committee plan to kill the proposal this week. The state’s insurance commissioner requested the study.
