A women’s soccer team is helping an Appleton Holecaust survivor celebrate his 90th birthday.
Henry Golde is a lifelong fan of the sport, so workers at Carolina Manor Assisted Living brought in Green Bay Glory players like Melissa Cruz-Cuene for Golde’s party.
Cruz-Cuene says they brought him some goalie gloves, a jersey and a couple of soccer balls. Golde used to be a goalie.
Golde spent five years in nine Nazi concentration camps when he was a child. He survived starvation, typhoid fever, and a death march to Czechoslovakia.
