The plans for converting Appleton Street in downtown Appleton into a two-way street also include bike lanes.
The city wants to put them in north of College Avenue to Atlantic Street.
Traffic Engineer Eric Lom says they need to add a middle lane for drivers to make left turns, because the amount of traffic is expected to increase.
Lom says they’ll have to remove about 10 on-street parking spots north of College Avenue. Four of them are next to the City Center and City Hall. The others are on the block that’s north of the library.
The on-street parking would stay between Packard and Atlantic streets.
The city’s municipal services committee supports the changes. The city council has the final say.
