A crash on Highway 15 near Hortonville this morning claimed the life of a 10-year-old Kaukauna boy.
He was an open enrollment student at Hortonville Elementary School, and he was in a car that hit a school bus around 8 a.m. Thursday. A 32-year-old Kaukauna woman was driving the car, and she has life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol says someone was trying to turn left, east of Hortonville, and traffic was backed up. Sgt. Erica Ballweg-Larsen says they believe the woman couldn’t stop in time, and she veered to the left. She says the car clipped the back of a pickup truck and then hit an oncoming bus, head-on.
No kids were on the bus at the time. The bus driver had minor injuries.
