State lawmakers are honoring Jayme Closs as a “hometown hero.”
The Assembly hands out the awards and the 13-year-old Closs was at the Capitol with family and friends to receive it. Her aunt, Jen Smith, accepted the award for the teen.
Closs escaped from her kidnapper in January after she was held captive for about three months in northwest Wisconsin. Jake Patterson entered guilty pleas to abducting Closs and killing her parents in the Barron area last October.
