The community will have another chance Monday to honor a fallen Appleton firefighter.
The funeral for Firefighter Mitch Lundgaard is this evening and there will be a large procession before the visitation and after the services. Lundgaard was killed last Wednesday in a shooting at the downtown transit center. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Driver-Engineer.
The procession will start at one this afternoon at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel on North Oneida Street. The route will go to Atlantic Street and Drew Street to pass Fire Station Number One. It will continue along Wisconsin Avenue to Mason Street, Capitol Drive, and Lynndale Drive to Grand Chute Boulevard. People are encouraged to line the route to pay their respects.
Visitation at Appleton Alliance Church is from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and it’s open to the public. The funeral at 6:00 p.m. will be closed.
After the service there will be another procession back to the funeral home. People are again asked to line the same route.
