Firefighters and police officers filled a church to honor an Appleton firefighter for making the ultimate sacrifice.
Driver-Engineer Lundgaard was killed in a shooting while he was on a medical call at the downtown transit center, last Wednesday.
Justin Wisneski knew Lundgaard through college, when the future firefighter was studying architecture. Wisneski says that changed after 9-11. He says Lundgaard decided to be a firefighter because he could make an impact and help people.
The 36-year-old Lundgaard had a wife and three young boys.
Appleton Driver-Engineer Justin Brown says Lundgaard was an amazing father. Brown says every time he sees the children, it’s his goal to tell them that. He hopes all three turn out just like their father.
The visitation at Appleton Alliance Church was open to the community. Because the line was so long, church leaders told people to stop coming to the church.
