New safety improvements on Highway 15 are starting this week ahead of a proposed expansion project.
Governor Evers included funding for the Hortonville bypass in his version of the budget. Local officials are calling on state lawmakers to make changes after a 10-year-old Hortonville boy died in a crash earlier this month. Village leaders are concerned the new improvements are just temporary fixes.
Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke of Vandenbroek is confident the money will stay in the budget. He says lawmakers recognize how important it is, and it’s nice to see everyone moving in the same direction.
The DOT is refreshing pavement markings. Workers also adjusted the timing of the traffic lights at two Hortonville intersections.
