About 750,000 people in Wisconsin could hit the road this Memorial Day weekend.
AAA Wisconsin spokesman Nick Jarmusz says that’s up about three percent from last year’s projection.
The national estimate is also higher. Jarmusz states that about 43 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from their home.
Jarmusz believes gas prices are a non-factor. They’re about 10 cents lower statewide than last year.
He thinks the strong economy is one reason for the increase in travelers. And he believes it’s been a long winter and people just want to get out.
