A program from the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce is turning 30.
Leadership Oshkosh Director Patti Andresen-Shew says businesses typically put their workers in the nine-month program, so they can learn more about the community. She says they focus on areas like health and human services, criminal justice, and local government.
She also says the business and education days are very important. Participants look for opportunities to give back to the community, as well.
Andresen-Shew says they’re expanding the fundraising component to teach people how to put together an initiative.
She’s happy with the Youth Leadership portion, where participants can become career mentors to juniors at the Oshkosh high schools.
