Appleton’s school board will be looking at capacity issues at some elementary schools.
District Chief Financial Officer Greg Hartjes says a study shows the biggest concerns are in one area of Appleton. He says it gives the baseline of the schools as far as moving kids and programs around. He says they need to find a solution for the overcrowding on the northeast side of town.
Huntley Elementary is about 150 students over capacity and Houdini is at 115 percent of capacity. Ferber is around 100 percent. Hartjes says enrollment has been flat for the past five years.
The board could decide later this month what steps to take next.
