A program that provides free dental checkups to Appleton students will expand in the fall.
The district works with the Partnership Community Health Center to treat them.
Assistant Superintendent Polly Vanden Boogaard says they’re adding North and East high schools. She says West High School has been a part of the program since the beginning. Booggard says the goal of the program is to provide students with proper care throughout their education.
The expansion will bring the total number of schools to seven. It’s also available at Wilson, Kaleidoscope Academy, and Madison middle schools, along with Central High School.
Dentists provide about 1,700 different services to students every year. That includes regular cleanings, filling cavities, and more serious work.
There are income-eligibility requirements to take part in the program.
