It’s grass cutting season and an official with Green Bay has some tips.
Public Works director Steve Grenier says grass clippings that end up in the road can be a hazard for bikes and motorcycles.
He describes they can be like ice when they fall on concrete or asphalt.
He believes there’s an environmental concern as well.
Grenier warns that grass that goes down the storm drain can cause algae blooms and unsafe water conditions.
Grenier reminds people there is a law in the city that prevents them from putting grass clippings, garbage and even snow in streets or alleys.
He advises people to leave the clippings on the grass as fertilizer or take them to a local yard waste site.
