Violent crime continues to decline in Oshkosh.
Police Chief Dean Smith says they handled fewer cases again last year. He says the number of violent crime cases declined 17.6 percent last year, and 13 percent in 2017.
That category includes murders, rape, assaults, burglaries, robberies, car thefts, and arson.
While serious crimes were down, Smith says they did see an increase in overall police calls. He blames some of that on continued drug use and mental health issues.
Oshkosh police released their annual report to the community today.
