The community is invited to say goodbye to Baird Elementary school on Green Bay’s east side on Sunday.
The school on Laverne Drive will be torn down the week of June 24th.
In the fall, students will attend the new Baird that’s being built behind the current building.
School district spokeswoman Lori Blakeslee says they’re using referendum money approved in April of 2017 to make the change. She explains it’s part of a land swap with the city. She says the new school will be built on park property and the park will be moved to where Baird currently is.
She says as part of the deal, the district will replace the baseball diamonds and anything else they took over.
The open house at Baird is Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.
