Appleton’s ban on vaping officially takes effect at noon today.
The city includes the devices in its smoking ban.
Public Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht says they worked with police to send a letter to businesses. He says electronic cigarettes and vaping will be handled similar to real cigarettes. He says they can’t be used indoors in public places in Appleton.
That covers bars, restaurants, and other businesses. Eggebrecht says just like with the rollout of the smoking ban it will be up to business owners to make sure customers know about the rule.
Appleton’s smoking ban has been in place for 14 years.
