An expert in Kewaunee County hopes a new machine will reduce groundwater contamination.
The Agrometer System is the first of its kind in the country. It uses tubes to spread liquid manure closer to the ground. That lessens the impact on the land and the amount of chemicals that get into the air.
Certified Crop Advisor Nathan Nysse is using it to teach farmers that there are better options. He says the machine also utilizes the fertilizer a lot better.
Nysse says the technology works on both large and small farms.
County Board Member Lee Luft thinks it’s a step in the right direction in protecting groundwater.
