Opponents of a proposed youth prison near New London are rallying tomorrow.
Bob Mercer is one of the organizers of the event at the Hortonia Town Hall. He says the state’s decision to build on a site in the town was rushed, and it caught a lot of people in the community by surprise.
Mercer is pointing to a number of other concerns. He says the site is a critical environmental corridor, with bald eagles nesting there. He’s also concerned about how it would affect property owners, and the impact it would have on the crime rate.
The rally starts at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the town hall.
