A downtown brew pub will be able to have a beehive on the roof.
The city council is going along with the plans from McFleshman’s Brewing Company. The manager of the Wells Fargo Bank across the street raised concerns about the possibility that customers could be stung.
Alex Schultz of McFleshman’s says they’re partnering with Lawrence University. He says they have to move that hive, and there will be a staging process so the bees don’t get lost along the way.
Lawrence University has a number of beehives on campus. There was one on the roof of the Copper Leaf Hotel last year but it was moved to a different location.
