A first-generation student in De Pere wants to stay in the area and help other people in similar situations.
Naomy Garcia Ortiz is about to start her senior year at St. Norbert College. She wants to get her masters degree and eventually become a social worker. She wants to give other people hope that there are people out there that will help them through their struggles.
Ortiz’s parents moved to northeast Wisconsin from Puerto Rico to give her more opportunities. Ortiz also got a scholarship from Integrated Community Solutions’ Ladder of Hope Foundation.
