A five-million dollar bond is set for a man charged with fatally shooting a Racine police officer who was trying to stop a robbery.
Twenty-six-year-old Dalquavis Ward of Milwaukee got out of federal prison four days before he’s suspected of killing officer John Hetland.
Hetland was off duty and was shot trying to stop an armed robbery at a tavern.
Ward is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, armed robbery and possessing a gun as a felon.
Prosecutors say DNA lead them to Ward.
