9-1-1 dispatchers are preparing for a lot of calls about fireworks over the next several days.
Last year, Brown County received 36 calls about the issue over four days.
Director of Public Safety Communications Cullen Peltier says they can deal with the call volume but it does tie up dispatchers. He says people don’t have knowledge of what’s legal or illegal, and that results in more calls.
Peltier says they also prioritize the calls they receive. He says it might take longer for officers to respond to a fireworks call if there is a more dangerous situation somewhere else.
