Appleton’s leader is back from a trip to Japan.
Mayor Tim Hanna visited Appleton’s sister city in that country, Kanonji. It’s his third time, and Kanonji’s mayor has also been in office for more than two decades. He says they picked up right where they left off the last time they met. He says it’s meaningful and fun to go back and visit with old friends.
Hanna says they also talked about how things have changed over the years, and how each community has dealt with it. He says one of the biggest challenges in Kanonji is the community’s aging population.
Hanna paid for his own trip. He was joined by musicians Cory Chisel and Adriel Danae. They worked with children to write a song about Kanonji.
