A main highway that connects Kaukauna to Appleton is getting a new speed limit.
Staring Monday speeds will drop from 55 mph to 45 mph on Highway CE between the Highway HH roundabout and just east of Highway N.
The Outagamie County Highway Commissioner says they’ve done several safety studies in the area and determined lowering the speed and making it consistent makes sense.
Fox Valley Metro police Lieutenant Mark Wery says much of the danger comes with cross traffic and those trying to turn on or off the highway.
Wery believes it will take some time for people to get use to the new speed.
He says police will initially try to educate speeders about the new limit before giving out tickets.
The 40 mph speed limit will stay in place for the stretch of the road west of Highway N.
