The Allouez Animal Hospital is joining a growing trend around the country of refusing to de-claw cats.
Doctor Becky Krull says the procedure actually removes the tips of a cat’s fingers. She says some rental agreements require it. She thinks people should take a stance against those rules for the good of the animal.
Krull says there are alternatives to de-clawing. She thinks training and scratch-posts can save furniture. She says people can also cut their pet’s nails or use plastic caps that cover the claws.
