It’s unclear when workers can start clearing the site of a historic building in downtown De Pere.
It was destroyed by fire almost three months ago. Mary Collette had a gallery there. She says it’s a sad sight because there was so much history at the site. She says she doesn’t feel a sense of urgency to see the debris removed.
De Pere Fire Chief Alan Matzke says asbestos was found in the rubble in the 100 block of South Broadway. The DNR is now investigating.
Property owner Jerry Turba says he’s reviewing estimates for the cleanup process.
