The City of Appleton is going to check on what the state is considering before moving forward with licenses for massage businesses.
Alderwoman Patti Coenen believes police should be able to inspect places to make sure they’re not doing anything illegal.
City staffers will see if lawmakers are making progress on statewide rules. Alderman Chris Croatt doesn’t think the city should wait. He says they’ve been dealing with issues like the “dark store loophole” for over two years, so they should be prepared to move on this.
Police Chief Todd Thomas says investigators have shut down four massage businesses in the city so far this year. He believes it’s an issue the city needs to act on.
