Appleton leaders are at least exploring the idea of letting people drive golf carts on city streets.
Alderman Chris Croatt wants to limit them to neighborhoods. He says communities that allow carts have strict regulations. He thinks they would only be allowed on streets with a 25 mph speed limit, and still would ban them from busier streets.
Croatt says someone in his district is pushing for the golf carts. The city’s safety and licensing committee could take up the proposal within the next month. Some members want to hear what the community thinks about the idea.
