Habitat For Humanity is putting some state lawmakers to work at projects in the Fox Cities.
A group of senators and representatives from both political parties toured Rock the Block sites in Menasha. Then they helped raise a wall at the Habitat neighborhood build, on S. Pierce Avenue in Appleton.
Habitat’s Chief Operating Officer John Weyenberg hopes they now have a better understanding of the need for affordable housing in the community, and the impact that Habitat is having on that.
Republican Sen. Roger Roth of Appleton was one of the lawmakers taking part today. His brother Ryan is the Director of Community Development for Habitat. Their father also volunteers for the nonprofit.
