Travelers have about a year to get a Real ID or face problems at airport TSA checkpoints.
The agency is starting the requirement on October 1st of 2020.
State DMV Administrator Kristina Boardman says people looking to upgrade their current drivers license will have to go through several steps. She says they include bringing in a proof of their date of birth and social security number.
There’s no extra charge for a Real ID drivers license.
Signs in the Appleton International Airport are already reminding people of the upcoming change.
