A lawmaker from Neenah is on board with a proposal to raise the statewide minimum age to buy cigarettes and vaping products from 18 to 21.
Republican Representative Mike Rohrkaste is one of the co-sponsors of the bill. He says when you look at the known risks of tobacco and the unknown risks of vaping, it’s a smart move. He thinks lawmakers should err on the side of caution when it comes to people’s health.
Rohrkaste says since high school students are 18 it can be easier for minors to get their hands on cigarettes and e-cigarettes. A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced the bill last week.
