Organizers of the Fox Cities Reads program are getting a national grant to support activities surrounding the next book.
President Ashley Thiem-Menning says it’s the first time they’re getting financial help through the National Endowment for the Arts.
She says one of the factors that are considered is the strength of the community read program. She says they’ve been picking books for the initiative for more than a decade.
The money will help bring the author to the Fox Cities.
The next book is “The Late Homecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir” by Kao Kalia Yang.
Thiem-Menning says they purposely picked the book to honor the large Hmong community in the Fox Valley.
