People in Winnebago County might see a decrease in their property taxes next year.
County Executive Mark Harris is releasing his proposed 2020 budget, and it calls for a 19-cent cut in the tax rate. There were reassessments of homes in the county, and that’s a big factor in the decline.
Overall spending would increase by 2-1/2 percent, to $180 million.
The county board will start reviewing the budget next month.
