A survey of 48 African-American entrepreneurs shows most don’t rely on outside help from economic development agencies.
Diana Hammer of the UW-Extension office in Fond du Lac says they also found many work several jobs until their businesses are up and running. She says they hope to help agencies, like local chambers of commerce, find a different approach to reach out to the business owners.
Fit Oshkosh is leading the project. Hammer says they interviewed entrepreneurs in Winnebago, Outagamie, Brown and Fond du Lac counties.
